Are they already selling Toyota badges Scions in the US? I ask because this is a damn good looking car. I like the contrast of the Toyota badge on a sporty coupe.

This is a common ricer modification, like putting Altezza badges on your IS300.

Wow, is that a Sunfire?!

Admittedly tasteful though.

The Toyota badge is tasteful. The other two badges...aren’t

All I see is a white Rapide.

Oh lol didn't see those

Amazed every time I see a sunfire or cavalier running

You’ve got some guts snapping photos that close to a police car. Is there no handheld cell phone ban where you live?

They will soon, it’s supposed to become the Toyota FRS for 2017. But, aftermarket rebadges are simple enough, considering that the Scion badge is already the exact size and shape of the Toyota one.

Toyota / Lexus / Scion all use the same size badge.

Ah, I knew that was a possibility. Looks tasteful though

If there is, it's not enforced. Semi-rural Ohio stereotypes and whatnot

Yeah the TRD one is admittedly silly

You’re right; as ricer mods go, this one is pretty harmless.

Yeah, nothing will ever happen if you grab your phone and snap a pic at a light.

TRDDDDD

Yeah hopefully they have better things to do. I’ve seen the local PD pull people over at red lights around here for people picking up the phone. I guess it depends how bad they need the money from the fines. Of course they never seem to be around when someone is texting on the freeway and can't stay in their lane...

It cannot be the new 86 because the tailights are different than the facelift pics, and it’s a BRZ because toyota never made a blue FR-S. It’s just a really good badge job.

I thought those things lasted forever. I still see a ton of them around.

Not yet; CarFax says this is a 2013 FR-S.

So, I saw a Kia Optima with some sort of aftermarket badge replacing the KIA insignia on the trunk. The guy was clearly into tasteful mods as was made apparent by his badly plastidipped wheels and chrome everything. But it got me thinking. Why do people swap their badges? Are they ashamed of what the car really is? Do they want to stand out? And why does the phenomena seem to apply only to Japanese/Korean cars? Is it because the badges are easily swapped?
It actually deeply bugs me when I see a car with aftermarket/non-OEM badges. It's usually like a crappy beater Toyota with a Lexus badge on it. It seems very poser-ish to me.

I get the Toyota GT86 badge as that is what it’s called in every other country besides the US. I personally would get the Holden badge option if I were to buy a new Chevy SS, but that's a full factory option lol
